Whether you are using MetaTrader 4 (MT4) or MetaTrader 5 (MT5) on desktop, mobile, or Webtrader, knowing how to add and remove symbols allows you to customize your trading environment to suit your needs. This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to add or remove symbols across different MetaTrader platforms.
Desktop MT
MT4
Add Instrument:
Right-click on the Market Watch window.
Select "Symbols."
Choose from the list of symbol groups displayed.
Click on an instrument to add it to Market Watch and click "Close."
Note: Alternatively, right-click on the Market Watch window and select "Show All" to display all available symbols on the trading account.
Remove Instrument:
Right-click on an instrument in the Market Watch.
Click "Hide."
MT5
Add Instrument:
Right-click on the Market Watch window.
Select "Symbols."
Choose from the list of symbol groups displayed or enter the symbol name in the search field.
Click on an instrument and select "Show Symbol." (If the $ sign is yellow, the symbol is added to the Market Watch).
Note: Alternatively, right-click on the Market Watch window and select "Show All" to display all available symbols on the trading account.
Remove Instrument:
Right-click on an instrument in the Market Watch.
Click "Hide."
Mobile MT
MT4
Add Instrument:
Tap on the Quotes icon at the bottom-left of the screen.
Tap the + icon in the top right corner.
Find the trading instrument by entering its name or navigate through the groups of symbols.
Tap on the trading instrument and it will be added to the Quotes list.
Remove Instrument:
Tap on the "Quotes" icon at the bottom-left of the screen.
Tap the "Pencil" icon in the top right corner.
Tap the "Bin" icon, select the trading instruments you want to delete, and tap the "Bin" icon again.
MT5
Add Instrument (for Android):
Tap on the "Quotes" icon at the bottom-left of the screen.
Tap the "+" icon in the top right corner.
Find the trading instrument by entering its name or navigate through the groups of symbols.
Tap on the trading instrument and it will be added to the Quotes list.
Add Instrument (for iOS):
Go to "Quotes".
Tap on the search bar to open the list of all available instrument groups for trading.
Tap the "+" icon beside the instrument you want to add.
Remove Instrument:
Tap on the "Quotes" icon at the bottom-left of the screen.
Tap the "Pencil" icon in the top right corner.
