"Trade disabled" error in MetaTrader

When you trade is disabled, you might see the following text in the MetaTrader application

"Trade disabled" On Chart

When clicking the Buy or Sell button on a chart, receiving the error message "Trade disabled" indicates that the system is currently preventing new orders from being placed or executed for that instrument.

"Read only" On Account page

A "Read Only" label on your mobile MetaTrader 5 account page indicates that your account is currently restricted to view-only access or trade execution is disabled.

Solutions

The first deposit has not been made yet on this account

1) Double-check the minimum deposit for your account:

  • Standard Cent and Standard accounts require at least 10 USD.

  • Pro and Raw Spread accounts need a minimum of 200 USD.

  • You can also open another type of account and make an internal transfer to meet the minimum deposit requirements

2) Check Personal Area > My accounts page

You might be logged into MetaTrader using the investor (read-only) password.

  • If you're logged in with an investor password, please log out and sign back in using your main trading password. If you’ve forgotten it, you can easily reset it from your Personal Area.

The instrument you’re trying is a grey pair.

  • Confirm that instrument has the right suffix - for example, instruments on Pro accounts end with .s (such as XAUUSD.s)

An instrument is not tradable at the moment.

  • Check the trading schedule for the instrument that you try to trade.

  • An instrument may be temporary set to "close-only" mode in the trading platform.

Check your verification

  • Make sure your account is fully verified - unverified accounts are limited and can be restricted after 30 days.
